Impact of RT-PCR Test False-Negative Results for SARS-CoV-2 Surveillance in Mexico

چکیده
Background: Underestimation of the number cases during coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has been a constant concern worldwide. Detection severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2) RNA using realtime reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) is most common method to confirm case. However, these tests have suboptimal sensitivity. Objective: The objective study was estimate COVID-19 confirmed cases, intensive care unit (ICU) admissions and deaths in Mexico, accounting for probabilities false-negative tests. Methods: We used publicly available, national databases all SARS-CoV-2 performed at public laboratories Mexico between February 27 October 31, 2020. estimated based on day clinical sample collection after symptom initiation calculated previously. With resulting model, we corrected daily ICU admissions, deaths. Results: Among 2,024,822 people tested 31 with an available result, 1,248,583 (95% confidence interval 1,094,850-1,572,818) compared 902,343 reported positive were 15% 8% higher than reported, respectively. Conclusion: Accounting RT-PCR-based diagnostic tests' precision simple way improve estimations true among persons.

Serology Testing for SARS-CoV-2: Benefits and Challenges
As COVID-19 was declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) in March 2020, it is an emerging need to discuss different aspects of this pandemic. In any pandemic, valid and rapid laboratory diagnostic tests are critically important for early diagnosis, which will increase the rate of successful treatment and more importantly prevent the spread of the disease.
متن کاملFalse-negative HIV antibody test results.
Ideally HIV antibody tests have to be both extremely sensitive and able to recognize all known HIV subtypes. Three patients whose sera failed to react with a synthetic oligopeptide-based HIV antibody test are described in this report. The patients were a Pakistani male infected recently, an Australian male infected for several years, and a Ugandan woman with AIDS. The presence of anti-HIV antib...
متن کاملSARS-CoV-2 infection: its psychiatric manifestations
Background: The clinical presentation of SARS-CoV-2 infection was initially dominated by respiratory symptoms. However the clinical spectrum is wide and neuropsychiatric syndromes are also a source of medical concern. Our aims are to present an atypical clinical presentation of SARS-CoV-2 infection characterized by auditory hallucinations and unusual behavior and to emphasize the diversity of ...
متن کاملRapid SARS-CoV-2 RT-LAMP assay setup using gene construct design approach
Background and Objective: The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is still an ongoing challenge in health system worldwide. Molecular detection methods including reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP) can help cutting off the transmission chain of the virus. In this study, prompt setting up of the RT-LAMP assays were investigated using ge...
